It was interesting to read about the Archdiocese’s of San Antonio first fully integrated STREAM school. At St. Gregory the Great Catholic School you are teaching project-based learning with religion into the academics of your school as well as getting students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and working cooperatively. Notably students will build their 21st century skills through STREAM. Importantly through STREAM at St. Gregory the Great you are preparing your students with skills they will need in their future.
Learning about the STREAM-implementation process is very intriguing! Personally, I am a big fan of the entire STREAM concept to increase critical thinking, problem-solvers, cooperative learners, and communication skills through project-based learning. Challenging these students increases real-world application (relevance) and increases responsibility, which I feel has been somewhat lacking in recent years. Looking at the process from your perspective where it was a challenge, but growth-opportunity, was also very interesting. I appreciate that your principal took the time to slowly shift from the original climate and culture of the school to the new curriculum over the span of a couple of years and after researching relevant opportunities. By taking the time to collaborate with the administration, faculty, and community, I feel like he embodies the entire Catholic-school atmosphere.
