Sabrina, the strategies you presented to assist in raising test scores for writing are ones that can be used across the board. Providing that purposeful professional development for teachers is so important to train them on a specific content area. At the same time, the strategy of scaffolding have been proven to be effective in improving student performance. The use of technology, properly focused and used, will also allow for improvement. I would be interested in finding out the outcome of the school’s scores after the implementation of the PLC.

The strategy of using scaffolding is crucial for teaching expectations. The term I like to use with it is “I do, we do, and you do” Teachers who aren’t currently using this strategy or are unaware they are can benefit a great deal. This won’t just help the students achieve at greater levels but should also lower any undesired classroom behavior, since they have seen and assisted with expected work. This is a win win.
Sabrina,
Improving test scores in schools will forever be a hot topic. I liked the strategies that you listed in your paper and believe that each of this will help San Felipe Del Rio take a step in the right direction. The strategies (professional development, scaffolding when they teach, the use of technology, and motivation by celebrating when achievement is made) are able to attack different parts of the students’ education in order to create an environment that fosters academic growth. Well done!
