Your research on the robotics program is an excellent example of how teamwork effectively develops the human capital of its students. In spite of the problems since the beginning to run it, the positive results that it brought made it possible to work. But also I think the role of its mentors is worthy of praise. They were the positive leaders who knew how to mold the human capital in the students. They provided them with constant training and encouraged them to succeed. It brought a tremendous impact on students’ development. I liked the sentence: “Having a recognizable robotics program provides opportunities for the team to ‘give back and also recruit’.
The Robotics program is one of the excellent ways in which experiential learning can be embodied and shows how well it works in an all-boys setting. Would you say that the statistic showing how the amount of students in the program has decreased might have something to say about its lack of impact on the school’s human capital?
I enjoyed reading your research paper on the robotics program with all this information and examples. It gave me an overview of all the aspect of the program. The Program is interesting and new for me. Looking at its impact on students was great since it helps students to cooperate together and practice managing their time. But, I think there is a need to have a student selection method to show who has a real interest in the program to avoid wasting time and resources.
Brandon,
What an excellent program! I am very impressed. I just hope that there are other schools out there that encourage girls to participate as well. The question was already addressed during the presentation but I am still wondering how a public school could do something similar with limited financial means?
I said it once during your presentation that I really like this initiative. From my experience, kids really love science and the different activities and experiments you can do within the subject matter. It is something they cannot get in any other subject and for the most part it is a change of pace from what they usually do in school. The part of it being robotics is also very exciting. Humans in general love to create new things and robotics is the path of the future. It isn’t just the subject matter I like. It is the the other curriculum you have to passively teach like teamwork and learning sportsmanship. Really enjoyed your paper and presentation. Keep up the good work
