This year’s Las Americas Letters theme will be Unfolding Symbol Through Time: The Power of Symbol in Literature and Art.

Through poetry and installation art we will explore the evocative topic of symbols and how they work within our culture to move us, shape us, and inspire us.

The guest speakers will be Rosemary Catacalos, Poet Laureate, Gerry Frost, inter-media artists, and Bryce Milligan, author and publisher.

The event will take place at St. Mary’s University Center (UC-B) on October 21 at 6:00 p.m and 22 at 9:00 a.m.

Las Americas Letters 2014

Las Americas Letters 2014 “A Tribute to J.L. Borges” was a success. We had some 220 attendees to the Friday night lecture by Maria Kodama, according to Ms. Kodama the graduate student panel was one of the most impressive student panels on Borges that she has heard. The public interview in the San Antonio Library Book Festival was one of the most attended. At the University of Texas in Austin she was welcomed to the Harry Ransom Center and the Benson Library where she viewed the Borges archives and a collection of photographs of the maestro.
