On July 3, 2020, the Texas Supreme Court considered the current circumstances and concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to the upcoming Bar Exam and has charged the Board of Law Examiners to make the following adjustments to the upcoming Bar Exam administration:

  • Due to the current surge in COVID-19 cases, the July 2020 Bar Exam administration has been canceled.
  • The September 9-10, 2020 in-person administration of the Bar Exam will proceed as scheduled, subject to guidance of public health authorities. The structure of the in-person exam will remain the same as previously announced. Health and safety measures will be in effect. Scores are expected to be released by mid-November.
  • A remote, online bar examination will be administered on October 5-6, 2020 which will consist of 100 Multistate Bar Examination questions, 1 Multistate Performance Test question, the Procedure and Evidence questions, and 12 Texas essays questions. Scores for the October exam are expected to be released by December 4.

Current July and September bar takers will have the choice to take the September or October 2020 exam. Procedures on making changes to your registration will be forthcoming from the BLE.
