Presenter Opportunities
Showcase your research. Share your voice. Inspire others.
Whether you’re presenting a poster or giving an oral talk, this is your opportunity to celebrate your hard work, build presentation skills, and connect with fellow researchers at St. Mary’s University
Who can present?
- Undergraduate and graduate students
- Faculty memebers enaged in research
- All disciplines and departments are encouraged to participate
PRESENTATION TYPES
Poster Presentation
Perfect for visual, exploratory, or data-rich projects
What to expect:
- Presenters will stand by their poter during the designated session
- Atendees will walk around, view posters, and ask questions
- Presenters should be ready to give 3-5 minute summary and engage in conversation
How to prepare:
- Posters should follow standard research poster formatting (title, intro, methods, results, conclusion)
- Print posters no longer than 36×48 inches landscape
- Dress profesionally and practice your summary in advance
Oral Presentation
Ideal for in-depth discussion and research storytelling
What to expect:
- Oral presentations are grouped into themed sessions
- Each presenter will have 20-35 minutes to present, followed by a brief Q&A
- Sessions will be moderated by faculty or invited guests
How to prepare:
- Create a powerpoint or visual aid to support your talk
- Practice your presentation to stay within the time limit
- Bring USB backup and arrive early to test tech if needed
- Dress professionally and be ready for audience questions
General Presenter Information
What happens after I sign up?
- A presenter orientation email will be sent before the een with setup details and tips
- You will also receive guidance on how to check in and where to go the day of the event
Check-in details:
- All presenters must check in 10-15 minutes before their scheduled session
- Poster presenters will be directed to their board; oral will report to their session room
Day-of checklist:
- Bring any printed materials (posters, handouts, etc.)
- Arrive early and dress professionally
- Be ready to network an drepresent your deparment proudly!
Presentation Awards
Outstanding presentation swill be recognized in categories such as:
- Best Poster Presentation – undergraduate and graduate
- Best Oral Presentation
