I enjoyed reading about how to implement a PLC in an athletic department because it is something to take into consideration for a single program itself.
Building culture is shaped by: fundamental beliefs, shared value, norms, patterns and behaviors, tangible. Climate is an important factor as well. Making sure that your program or programs have a positive climate is essential when you want to get everyone to collaborate with one another.
The time spent with athletes helps with building a positive climate and culture because it shows value in their presence. Student athletes grow through sportsmanship, leadership, participation rate and attendance rate. Lastly, coaches
stray away from building athletes due to pressures to succeed and this is something that should be focused on as an athletic department as a whole. Great read and good strategies!

Changing the culture within an athletic department, starts with the staff. Like you said coaches have an impact on their athletes due to how much time they spend together. Coaches should take advantage of this opportunity and plant beneficial seed in their life. The athletic director can also have an effect on the change in culture within the department. Coaches should definitely look for the opportunity to mentor and relate to their athletes, especially since some athletes come from broken homes. You did a good job explaining these topics within the content of your essay.
