Keynote Speaker and Award Ceremony

Join us as we wrap up Research Showcase.  Our keynote speaker, Ms. Ana Sandoval, will speak on the importance of building towards climate resiliency and commitment to environmental sustainability.  The ceremony will conclude with student and faculty recognitions.  Student awards will include poster and oral presentations along with Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships.  Faculty recognitions will include Junior and Senior Mentor awards, Internal Faculty Research Grant awardees, and new grant recipients for this fiscal year.  Food and beverages will be provided. 

Ana Sandoval

Ana Sandoval, Assistant Director of Healthcare Equity

University Health

Ana is Assistant Director of Healthcare Equity with University Health.  She served on the San Antonio City Council from 2017 – 2023, representing District 7. On Council she advocated for improved public transportation and pedestrian infrastructure, public health, and climate action. During her tenure, San Antonio City Council adopted the Tobacco 21 ordinance, which subsequently became national law and the Tobacco Free Parks policy, and created the Resiliency, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Fund.

Ana holds a Masters in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a Masters in Atmospheric Modeling from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from MIT.
