Important Tips for Canvas

2. Access Your Course(s)
  1. Using your StMU ID & password, log into Canvas: https://canvas.stmarytx.edu
  2. DashboardThe Dashboard is your landing page.
    This is where you will find a list of all your courses.
3. Ensuring Canvas Compatibility
  1. Check out community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10720 to access:
    1. Browser compatibility
    2. Browser Plugins and Extensions
    3. Browser Privacy Settings
    4. Canvas on Mobile Devices
  2. Login to Canvas using your StMU ID and Password:
    1. https://canvas.stmarytx.edu
    2. After logging in, if the course content doesn’t load, try accessing the course through a different browser.
    3. If the issue persists, check to see if the course in question is listed in your Course List.
      1. Click the Courses icon and then click “Course List”.Courses Icon
      2. If the course is listed, make sure you star the course so it appears on your Dashboard.
      3. If the course is not published, reach out to your faculty and let them know.
4. Keep Up to Date with Notifications
  1. Set your Canvas notification preferences and check your Canvas courses often for announcements, notifications, and messages. See

  2. Download the Canvas Mobile app to receive Announcements, notifications and messages on-the-go:
    1. Android
    2. iOS
5. Digital Disruptions
If your exam or quiz is disrupted or if you are having difficulty uploading/submitting an assignment:

  1. Take a Screenshot of the incident;
    1. Take a screenshot on your Mac
    2. Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots for PC
  2. Contact the Technical Support Center or Academic Technology Services: tsc@stmarytx.edu or ats@stmarytx.edu; and
  3. Through Canvas, send a message to notify your instructor that an incident has occurred.
