Lighting makes a big difference. And if you’re on a shoot with our digital cameras or your own, lighting may make the difference between a good shoot or a bad one. We caretake a couple of lighting kits that may be perfect for what you need. You can also ask us for a few DIY tips that can help when you’re in the field.

DSLR Camera
Works in a variety of lighting conditions; has a great sensitivity range. This camera can record RAW and/or JPEG images to a standard SD memory card. With outstanding video quality it can record your works.

Our collection of wired and wireless microphones offer the community expanded voice amplification when paired with our high-quality portable speaker systems. Ask us which solution is best for your event.
Tripod
To be used with the DSLR Camera. Stabilize your photos or videos. Can be tilted 90 degrees and the enter column can be raised or lowered.

How much does it cost to check out equipment?
Checking out St. Mary’s media equipment is free for all current St. Mary’s students, faculty, and staff.
How do I get Lighting Equipment Certified?
Check the calendar to see when there are open workshops for certfication avaliable. Contact Liza Sanchez for an appointment by email or by calling 210-436-3503
Where do I go to checkout equipment?
After filling out the equipment check out form you will recieve a confirmation emil. You can go to the acedemic media center to pick up or return equipment.
How do you set up the lighting equipment?
Set up the stand an securly attach the light. Remove or open up the cover from the lighting. Plug in the power cord if the battery is out or low. Turn on the light and adjust brightness and angles as needed.
Do you need lighting equipment for good photos?
A good photo can be made with good lighting. If your photo location is dark or doesn’t have enough light then a light kit would be a great solution. The lighting equipment is also useful if you want to control the lighting for a brighter picture.
