Jeff Schomburg earned his master’s degree in Speech Communications with a specialization in Training and Development and his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a focus on Public Relations, both from Texas State University. With over 23 years of experience in higher education, he has excelled as an adjunct faculty member, instructional designer, faculty instructional technology manager, and a key member of the information services executive leadership.
Jeff’s strategic focus encompasses academic innovation and instructional technologies, learning and performance improvement, online education, best practices in pedagogy, the design of dynamic learning spaces, student success strategies, and cutting-edge video learning technologies.

Director of Online Learning & Curriculum Innovation
John Solis, Ph.D. has worked in higher education and instructional design for the past 20+ years. As the Director of Online Learning & Curriculum Innovation at St. Mary’s University, he provides leadership, management, and direction in the development and support of online learning courses and programs and curriculum initiatives. John holds an M.A. in Communication and Training Technology from the University of Northern Iowa as well as a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of Wyoming.

Ana Gonzalez
Director of Digital Education & Media Services
As Director of Digital Education and Media Services at St. Mary’s University, Ana leads the talented team at the Academic Media Center, where they support faculty and students through innovative media and technology services. With over 25 years in higher education and a Master’s in Educational Technology from UT Brownsville (now UTRGV), she passionate about harnessing technology to enhance teaching and learning in meaningful ways.
Her background includes roles as an instructional designer, faculty trainer, project manager, and customer success leader, all centered on making education more accessible, effective, and engaging. Outside of work, Ana enjoys gardening, traveling (especially to Guanajuato, Mexico), and spending time with her wife, Maite, and their two wonderful daughters. Whether she’s mentoring student workers at the AMC or tending tomatoes in her home garden, Ana is dedicated to nurturing growth, both in education and in everyday life.

Trisha Garcia
Instructional Designer
Trisha Garcia is an experienced educator and instructional designer dedicated to creating engaging and effective learning experiences. With 16 years in K-12 education and six teaching certifications, she brings a deep understanding of instructional design theories, models, and tools to Academic Technology. Trisha holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Sul Ross State University and a M. Ed. in Educational Technology from UTRGV. She finds joy in helping faculty bring their visions to life and empowering learners with innovative tools. Beyond her professional life, she is a devoted mother of three who enjoys spending her free time watching baseball—especially cheering on her beloved New York Yankees.

Liza Sánchez
Media Specialist
Liza joined the AMC over 30 years ago from CBS affiliate KENS-TV, bringing a wealth of experience in video production. She oversees all video production equipment, leads workshops, and manages major video projects and live streaming events for the university. Beyond her technical and instructional roles, Liza is an active member of the Marianist Educational Associates and holds a B.A. in English Communication Arts from St. Mary’s University.

Tim O'Dekirk
Media Specialist
As a Media and Production Specialist in Academic Technology, Timothy O’Dekirk works with faculty, staff, and students to create high-quality digital media content, including video, audio, and graphic design. He leads workshops on equipment and software, manages the Academic Media Center’s resources, and provides hands-on training in media production. Whether capturing campus events or mentoring student media assistants, he is passionate about equipping the next generation with the technical and creative skills needed for their careers.
A 2021 St. Mary’s University alumnus, Timothy has a strong background in media production and instructional technology. Originally from St. Louis, MO, he’s a dedicated hockey fan (Go Blues!), outdoor enthusiast, and birdwatcher. When he’s not behind a camera or leading a workshop, you’ll likely find him hiking and enjoying nature.
